Story 1: "The Dove of Peace"

Joe helped us with our garden when we moved into our home. The Farm had been unoccupied for years, and Joe was retained by the previous owners to keep the garden under control. Joe kindly agreed to help us when we moved in, which he did for the remaining years of his life. I asked his daughter if I could have something of Joe's to create a memory of him and she gave me some old cups & saucers. From a single cup and saucer I made a "Dove of Peace" that proudly resides in our hallway. It is a constant reminder of Joe and a great talking point. From this work I have recreated many similar pieces, using donated items by clients wanting a memory of their loved ones

Story 2: Three Birds on a Twig

A local lady recently gave me two teacups that clearly had great sentimental value because they had been damaged and glued together several times. Telling me she had just lost her husband, she asked for a picture made from the cups, but was very specific about the design - 3 fat little birds on a twig. She even provided the beads for their eyes, and asked me to use only material from the cups. I made the picture, and from the unused shards then made two more birds, which have also now flown the nest.

Story 3: Even-handedness

A lady gave me her broken Aynsley vase and asked me to make three pictures: two jugs, one left-handed, one right-handed for her brothers; and a medium-sized heart for herself. I used almost every shard to make them, but had enough spare to make an additional small heart.
